Written & Produced by Remi Thomsen

Vocals recorded by Jens V. Jakobsen at Imert Basement Studios
Mixed & Mastered by Kasper Sandbjerg Larsen at K mix
Track no. 2 from the album "Ignite the light"
Released on 25 August 2022
SOUNDED FAMILIAR
It was one of those melodies that suddenly were there and I wondered if it was already a known song. Luckily it seems it was an original melody
METALLICA SHOWED THE WAY
James Hetfield hesitated to release "Nothing else matters" because it was so personal. And then there was "Mama said". That man is such a massive inspiration in so many ways
WRITTEN FAST
After my mother's passing in 2018, the lyric came as easily as the melody had months earlier. I am very glad that the lyrics express my feelings after my mother's passing very presicely
THE VIDEO IS A WORDPLAY
Obviously, the line "I see you under water" is a methaphor, but we found this old video with female divers that was free to use. So I think we made it work
VERY PERSONAL SONG
I seriously considered if the song was too personal to release. To this day, it can be difficult for me to sing
SAD SONG IN A MAJOR KEY
Even though "The darkness" enterely consists of happy major chords, the song is very melancholic and to be honest quite sad. Mr. Conroy will get you down no matter what (laughs)
- Quotes by Remi Thomsen
I see you under water
Head held high like no other
1
As the darkness fades away
And the night turns into day
I see it all so different in this new light
Hear the memory
of your tales
As this emptiness prevails
I think of why I never saw you in the daylight
2
So you're never coming back
And you left me in your track
I doubt you ever found your own redemption
But I think you had your day
And I know you had your say
All the pictures show me a reflection
3
And I watched you lose you way
As your life faded away
Addiction trumped affection if you don’t mind
And the darkness found a way
And the night turned you astray*
Now I see I always looked at you from your worst side
4
And I watched you lose you way
As your life faded away
Addiction trumped affection if you don’t mind
And the darkness found a way
And the night turned you a slave
Now I see I always looked at you from your worst side
Now I see I always saw you from my side
