Song facts

“Black Days” is one of those songs that refused to disappear. I wrote it as a child and recorded it with Mr. Conroy decades later.

The song is about isolation and rejection — and the stubborn attempt to make black days turn out bright.

The soft, acoustic arrangement gradually builds around subtle blues guitar and the emotional pull of alternative rock.

"BLACK DAYS" LYRICS

Verse:
It is hard to say you’re sorry
when everybody’s against you

Hold on to your armchair
When the world is out to get you

Chorus:
I had some black day
And I tried to make 'em turn out bright
By staring straight into the light
I tried to tell you
But in ways i’d 'ready lost the fight
And nothing seemed to matter anymore

Verse:
It is hard to say you’re sorry
when everybody’s against you

Hold on to your armchair
When the world is out to get you

Chorus:
I had some black day
And I tried to make 'em turn out bright
By staring straight into the light
I tried to tell you
But in ways i’d 'ready lost the fight
And nothing seemed to matter anymore

Bridge:
I’m standing outside your house
And all the lights are on
And I knock on the door
But I, I can’t get in

You don’t know how it is
To be turned away
You don’t know how it is
When noone wants to play
